On the edge of the Meon Valley at the centre of the Winchester/Portsmouth/Southampton triangle, our delightful village will once again open many of its gardens to visitors. The gardens vary from small intimate village gardens to large country house gardens. Amongst our old favourites we have one or two that have not opened recently and all have, of course, changed as the years have passed. We expect to have 10 gardens open each day. Half of these gardens are within easy walking distance of the village centre. All could be visited with a round trip of 4-5miles starting and ending at The Paterson Centre, where you will find refreshments and delicious homemade cakes and scones.
The Troll Hunt:
The Norwegian Trolls have come over from Bergen and have hidden their treasure in Swanmore.
We are designating Sat 22nd as family day and to add a bit of spice for the children they will be able to take part in a FREE “Troll Hunt”. Hidden in the gardens will be pictures of trolls each will provide a clue to help find “The Treasure”. First to find the Treasure keeps it. Don’t worry about the children getting muddy, we don’t want flowerbeds trampled so all the Trolls will be visible from paths or grassed areas.
Transport & Parking:
Parking is free and once again The Meon Valley Lions are loaning their minibus to provide a free hop-on-hop-off service to the gardens. In addition we plan to run a second minibus to reduce waiting times.
Delicious homemade cakes, teas and speciality coffees will be available from The Paterson Centre
There will be plants for sale and a plant crèche will avoid the need to carry them around – just give them to the minibus driver and collect them from The Paterson Centre when you are ready to leave.
Follow the yellow “Open Gardens” arrows from surrounding areas.
Ticket proceeds will be split equally between St Barnabas, Reg Charity 1128899 and Rowan’s Hospice, Reg Charity 299731.
