Groups for Young People

Children in Church

At St Barnabas we aim to be a family-friendly church. Children are welcome at all our services and the 10.00am service on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month are especially child- and family-friendly. The 1st Sunday of the month is a Eucharist (also known as Holy Communion) and children stay in for the whole service. Our 3rd @ 10 Café Church on the 3rd Sunday of the month is nonEucharistic and informal. It is held in the Paterson Centre, we sit around tables, eat breakfast and chat together as well as having a service involving prayers and songs. There are activities for children as part of this. There are other additional family-friendly services throughout the year – Mothering Sunday, Harvest, Pet Service, Christingle, Crib Service and so on..

Sunday Club

for children aged 3-11, generally meets in the Paterson Centre (our church hall, which is attached to the church and can be accessed from the church) at 10am on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month in term-time. Children come into church towards the end of the service to receive a blessing and to share with the congregation what they have been doing that day in Sunday Club.

Messy Church

Messy Church is an exciting activity, games and craft based time for families, with a very short, relaxed and often noisy ‘service’ in church, followed by a shared meal. Messy Church is a chance for children and adults to learn more together about the Christian faith in a fun and informal way.

The next Messy Church will be on:

Friday May 11th – 3.30-5.30pm

Friday June 29th – 3.30-5.30pm
