Events at St Barnabas Church, Swanmore

The Church of St Barnabas, Swanmore is an active church and is heavily involved with the parish, the village schools and with the other churches in the area. The monthly pages accessible from the main menu list the regular church events for that month.

A major new event in 2007 was the Hampshire Wedding Fair. Some photos taken on the day are posted on this website with commentary - please look under 'News', then click on 'Former News Items' and select the Wedding Fair. 

In brief summary, however, the Fair was a resounding success: attendance at around 250 was very good; many positive comments were received from both exhibitors and visitors (who remarked on the friendly atmosphere and helpfulness of all those involved); the church was magnificent with beautiful flower arangements and live background organ music, with clergy on hand to answer questions about church weddings; the fashion show was most illuminating and much enjoyed by a packed church-full of people; a financial surplus was made for church funds; and even the weather was perfect.

We very much hope that couples planning to get married are now more likely to consider having a wedding service in church. 

Congratulations especially to Felicity Boraston for her impeccable planning and organisation - and very many thanks to stewards and all the St Barnabas people who helped the day go with a real swing.
